Module with a very wide range of applications. In combination with an encoder dial, it is possible to use, for example, in calculating the speed of motors, counting pulses, etc. The slot sensor, or slot optocoupler, sends a signal depending on whether the slot is obscured or not. The user has a choice of two sensor output signals:
A digital signal is a signal in the form of logical 1 -- that is, voltage -- 5V or logical 0 -- that is, GND ground and therefore no signal.
Analog signal is a linear signal with a higher resolution and thus it does not distinguish only 0 and 1 but the whole range from 0 to 5V supply and depending on the state of the sensor it sends such a signal. So it can be a 0V signal and a small change in the state of the sensor causes the voltage of the output signal to increase gradually to the maximum voltage.
