Uruchomienie bezpiecznika następuje w momencie, gdy temperatura otoczenia przekroczy punkt topnienia elementu zabezpieczającego a następnie po jego roztopieniu, następuje rozwijanie sprężyn spiralnych i przerwanie połączenia elektrycznego.
